SINCE 1920

Located on the banks of the Ganges on the ancient Grand Trunk Route, Obeetee is the largest handmade rug maker in India. But there’s more to us than our craft. Garden parties and silver service for a century - A charming way of life is kept alive at The Bungalow. Meet the company behind the product.

OUR LEGACY

Proud to be
Indian

The first documented India-inspired Carpets.
We turned to India’s best designers to create an indigenous Indian design language for carpets otherwise dominated by Persian and Chinese motifs.

Tactile innovation through experimentation.

Integrated into Year 1 of the school’s newly launched MFA Textiles program, students work with Obeetee to gain on-ground experience and develop radically new concepts. For example, carpets that scent the air, yarns created from milk and movement-sensitive LED carpets.

We choose to be hand-made

Carpet making is an ancient craft. We connect with skill to keep the processes alive. For a medium density carpet it takes 6 hands to work tirelessly for 6 months to create one 8 x 10 single carpet.

Collect a masterpiece in human artistry - for generations to come.

We choose to be hand-maden

“We want our weavers to enjoy making a carpet. We believe that art, technology and social accountability can fix problems that exist in villages in India. Obeetee is here to see that change”
